The cup face throws water and gives predators something easy to locate when bait is being chased high.

Use hard pops when fish are aggressive or the surface is broken, and shorter bloops with longer pauses when the water is calmer.

The pause after the pop matters because many fish track the commotion first and eat when the lure stops.

It is strongest over reefs, rock edges, bluewater current, bait balls, river mouths, and shallow flats where fish are actively looking up.

It is not useful if the fish are glued to bottom, but when the surface bite is on it is direct and visual.

Natural or translucent baitfish finishes are best in clear to lightly stained water, especially when fish are feeding by sight and have time to inspect the lure.
