Retrieve it steadily first to let the lure track naturally, then add pauses or short twitches when it passes a current seam, rock edge, or bait school.
The lure is not meant to be ripped constantly; the value is a stable baitfish line with a few well-timed changes in speed.
It is strongest from beaches, breakwalls, estuary mouths, and rocky edges where predators are hunting bait in the upper water column.
It is not the best answer for fish glued to bottom; use it when they are willing to rise or move for a baitfish profile.
