It gives you the casting and sinking advantages of metal with a more baitfish-like swimming presentation than a plain slab jig.
Use a steady retrieve when fish are chasing, or lift-and-fall it when they are sitting lower.
The bite often comes when it changes speed, so mix straight winding with short pauses and drops.
It is strongest in surf, rocky shorelines, channels, and open water where distance and sink rate matter.
It is less suited to ultra-shallow weed or snaggy ground.
The brighter or flashier finish is useful when the water has stain, the light is low, or the lure needs to stand out around current, cover, or surface disturbance.
In very clear calm water, slow the retrieve down or switch to a more natural finish if fish are only following.
