Deps Huge Pencil Skater Silent 225 mm 3.7 oz Floating Lure 09

225mm | 7 oz | Floating | Topwater Pencil

This is a big topwater pencil built for calling fish up rather than quietly matching tiny bait.

The long body gives it a strong surface presence, and the walking/sliding action lets you keep the lure in the strike zone while still looking like a fleeing baitfish.

Work it with downward rod taps and enough slack to let the body swing instead of dragging it in a straight line.

Slow, wide walks are good when fish are following or the water is calm.

Faster, sharper taps make it look panicked and help cover more water when fish are already switched on.

The silent version is better when fish are pressured, the water is calm, or you want the profile without extra noise.

Because it is floating, the pause is important.

Stop it beside current breaks, weed holes, rock edges, or bait schools and let the lure sit for a moment before moving it again.

The finish should be chosen by matching it to the water rather than assuming one colour works everywhere.

Use subtle natural colours in clear water, brighter or higher-contrast colours in dirty water, and darker silhouettes when fish are tracking shape more than detail.

This is not the first choice when fish are feeding on tiny bait or refusing surface lures.

It is strongest when predators are looking up, bait is being pushed near the surface, or you need a big target that can draw attention from distance.

TARGET SPECIES: largemouth bass, peacock bass, snakehead, barramundi, trevally, queenfish, bluefish, and other predators that are willing to hit near the surface.
